Kaylee’s Corner: Roundup

Words by Kaylee Federmann

Between Sober and Drunk by Adrian Taylor Band

This song feels like a storyteller telling his story. This track is about being lost somewhere in the in between of it all. Getting caught up in life itself and not knowing where to turn next. Its a super relatable message in the form of a beautiful song.

Let It Go by Jim Anthony

A sweet country song from Jim Anthony about learning to let things go when they’re cutting deep. The sweet acoustic production is very wholesome and heart warming. Jim carries the song perfectly with his full bright vocal tone. An easy to listen to feel good tune.

Tissue Paper by Paging Doctor Moon

With jazzy influenced R&B guitar elements, this song has a great groove to it. Tension builds in all the right spots and the lyrical rhythmic choices are very tasteful. A fun song to jam to as a musician and with a very sweet feeling to it as a whole.

Lonely Satellite by Lexi Berg

Lexi Berg’s Powerhouse vocals are paired with beautiful production choices and live rhythmic instrumentation on “Lonely Satellite”. Berg sings about the idea of being lonely and what that brings to her in her life. Her raspy tone helps bring out the emotion in the lyrics and she leaves a memorable melody with it.

Hey Little Lovely by Chris Batten & The Woods

Chris Batten &The Woods are here with a modern take on a throwback feeling track. This song has a great head bobbing vibe and easily singable lyrics. The band sings about moving forward and chasing their dreams over the borderline and never looking back. A great take on blending indie vocals with 90s rock production.

Bug by Box Elder

Grungry and angsty, this song is giving 2000s vibes with a pop punk spin. Definitely one you would hear at a local emo night. The band sings about having not much more to give to someone and still coming back to them. A relatable message, it can be easy to become addicted to our situations, or situationships. If you have a situationship playlist, this is one to add to it.

She Got The (Blue eyes, Blonde... ) by Thomas Geelens

Thomas Geelens is back with a song about the typical girl who is overconfident and can get everything she wants. The girl who knows who she is and how to do everything herself. This track has great beachy vibes and is definitely a fun and easy listen. The chorus is memorable and catchy- feels like it would be perfect on the score for the new season of Love Island.

Songbird by Tokyosongbird

With a cool vintage influence apparent in his piano progression and production, Tokyosongbird’s new track matched the lyrical message of calming anxiety with somewhat intense and trippy production choices. The juxtaposition of this is very tastefully done, though. The song eventually moves into a whirlwind of synths and reverb-ed guitars that could easily take you into another state of mind. The simplicity of the lyrics is supported by chaos of the production as well, creating a perfect balance.

Halfway by Aarón

This song is a laid back ‘cali rock’ tune talking about meeting someone halfway. When one person is working way harder in the relationship to make things work, it can feel off balance. An easy listen with an irresistibly smooth voice, Aarón sums up his story perfectly with catchy guitar parts punchy drums.
