Even Rain Can’t Stop Karol G’s Sunshine
Karol G is currently in the middle of her first ever stadium tour where she’s doing two back-to-back nights in Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium on 8/25/23-8/26/23, and we were lucky enough to be granted the honor of covering her Saturday night show (big thank you to Oscar for making it happen). I ended up getting to the stadium about an hour after the gates opened and the city was clearly excited to see Karol because the place was already fully packed hours before the show even started. One thing about Karol G is that she has an extremely devout fan base because women not only show up in crazy outfits but also with matching hair color to Karol which this year was pink.
Opening up for Karol G in our city was DJ AGUDELO888 (who will be on all the stops of the tour) and Bad Gyal. Both acts were great and got the crowd hyped for the headliner that was to come. For the main event, Karol G brought out all the stops. She starts off the show with a giant inflatable mermaid in the background along with give or take a dozen dancers around her as she performs. They’re all dancing while she’s singing and sounding utterly fantastic. At some point a giant, metal shark comes out from behind the LED screen, and she starts performing on top of that which was absolutely crazy. She then brings out Quevedo to perform a couple songs with, which is where probably the most magical moment of the night happens. As soon as they start performing their collaborative song “PERO TÚ” rain starts pouring heavily and it’s an open roof stadium so it’s coming down on everyone but neither of them misses a beat. Most of the crowd that was on the floor stayed while getting rained on and just kept cheering even harder than they were before. Luckily, the rain didn’t last long and everyone in the stadium (Karol G, Quevedo, and the fans) powered through for what would be a great night.
Karol G ended up performing for around two and a half hours, going through a catalog of hits and wardrobe changes all while keeping the crowd engaged, excited, and singing every word of every song she was performing. It’s easy to see why she’s become a stadium act given that she’s such a great performer with an endearing personality while on stage. I know that fans that attended Karol G's Miami shows will remember those nights for a while, especially the Saturday show, so if she’s in your city and you have a chance to attend don’t miss out.
